Broad industrial base
The commercial climate in Stenungsund is unique. The The large scale industrial manufacturing base provide peripheral commerce with a solid foundation to build upon. Many small and medium sized businesses have been established to provide the base industries with the specialized services they require.
As recently as in the 1950's commerce in the region was dominated by farming and market gardening along with trading and small scale industry.
Today every branch of industry is represented. Well known companies within boat building
and IT are based here. A total of some 800 businesses are registered in the municipality. In recent years a number of new companies have moved in, at the same time as the etablished industries have strengthened their positions.
